BuyRentBorrow™ (operated by Atrilux LLC) is a peer-to-peer local marketplace where members buy, sell, rent, rent out, borrow, lend, and gift items and services. We offer an optional text-message program that sends members transactional alerts about their own account and listings — never marketing. This page describes who we are, what we send, who receives it, and exactly how members opt in and out.
SMS is optional and separate. You can create an account and fully use BuyRentBorrow™ — browse, buy, sell, rent, borrow, and gift — without ever providing a phone number or agreeing to receive texts. Consent to receive messages is not a condition of creating an account, agreeing to our Terms of Service, or completing any purchase or transaction, and agreeing to our Terms does not opt you in. To decline, simply leave the “Text me…” box unchecked — it is unchecked by default — and you keep full access to everything.

✉️ What Messages We Send
The program sends only transactional, account-related texts:
- One-time verification codes — a numeric code to confirm a member owns the mobile number they entered.
- Listing & account alerts — a notice to an item or service owner when their listing is purchased, rented, borrowed, requested, or claimed, so they can arrange pickup or respond.
We send no marketing, promotional, or advertising messages through this program.
👥 Who Receives Messages
Only a registered member who has personally added their own mobile number, verified it with a one-time code, and turned on the notifications toggle in their profile. Consent is per-member and tied to that member's own account and listings. No number is ever texted without this explicit in-account opt-in, and we do not message numbers obtained from any third party.
✅ How Members Opt In (Consent / Call to Action)
Opt-in happens inside the member's own BuyRentBorrow™ account, on their profile page:
- The member opens My Account and enters their US mobile number in the Phone field.
- They tap “Verify number,” and we text a one-time code to that number. They enter it and tap “Confirm code” to prove the number is theirs; the profile then shows a ✓ Verified badge.
- In Communication preferences, they check a box — unchecked by default, and selectable only after the number is verified — that reads:
Leaving this box unchecked declines the SMS program. Consent is not a condition of any purchase or of using BuyRentBorrow™ — you can create an account and use every feature without it, and you can turn it off again anytime in your profile.

- Message frequency: varies — messages are sent only in response to your own account and listing activity (for example, when your item is purchased or requested).
- Cost: Message and data rates may apply.
- To opt out: reply STOP to any message, or turn off the SMS setting in your profile. You will receive no further texts.
- For help: reply HELP to any message, or email support@buyrentborrow.com.
- Privacy: we do not sell or share your mobile number or your SMS opt-in/consent data with any third party or affiliate for their marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy.
