Delete Your Account — BuyRentBorrow™

You can permanently delete your BuyRentBorrow™ account and personal data at any time. This page explains how to request it, exactly what is erased, what we are legally required to keep, and how long it takes.

📱 Delete from within the app

The quickest way, if you can sign in:

Sign in to BuyRentBorrow™ (in the app or at the website).
Go to Profile.
Scroll to the “Delete account permanently” section.
Tap Check if I can delete, then Permanently delete my account. No password re-entry needed.

Your account is deleted and signed out immediately, and you won't be able to use it again. Your personal data is then permanently erased after the legally-required hold described below.

✉️ If you can't sign in

Email privacy@buyrentborrow.com from the email address on your account, with the subject “Delete my account.” We'll verify that you own the account and process the deletion for you. No app or account access is required to make this request.

🧾 What's deleted, and what's kept

Permanently erased

Your name and username
Email address and phone number
Home and pickup/shipping addresses
Any saved location coordinates
Profile bio and notes
Saved payment methods (card tokens, last-4, etc.)
The contents of your messages

Kept (only as required)

Anonymized transaction records (amounts, dates) for tax, accounting, and dispute resolution — no longer tied to your identity
One-way fraud-prevention fingerprints (irreversible hashes — they contain no readable personal data)
A minimal record that terms were accepted
Payment records held by Stripe under its own retention policy

⏳ How long it takes (and why)

Card payments can be disputed (charged back) for up to about 120 days after a transaction. To be able to resolve any dispute fairly, we keep your personal data until that window closes on your most recent transaction, then apply a 30-day grace period, and then permanently erase it. If you have no recent transactions, only the 30-day grace period applies.

This delay also protects the community: it prevents someone from committing fraud, deleting their account, and immediately re-registering to do it again.

↩️ Recovering an account deleted by mistake

Deletion is permanent. As a safety net for accidental deletions only, during the legally-required retention hold (before your data is erased) you may still recover the account by contacting support. Once the hold ends and erasure completes, recovery is no longer possible.

⚠️ One thing to finish first

For everyone's protection, you can't start deletion while you still have open obligations — a sale within the last 7 days, a payment or dispute in progress, or an item out on rent/borrow (owed to you or by you). Resolve those first, then you're clear to delete.
